geography news

We have moved to Southeast Asia. We will be moving through this region for about the next 4 weeks. There are a number of religions that have originated in this region. The students are therefore working on a presentation about the major religions of the world.

Here are a couple of other reminders.
The country quizzes will be per chapter for this unit. Then there will be a complete test when we finish the unit.
Current events articles will continue for this unit. Remember that the byline must be from the countries we are studying. Students need to supply two articles for the unit. You also need to give a very brief summary of the article to the class. This last note is a new requirement for this unit.

science update - Oct. 8th

There are several new viruses floating around school. Maybe that explains why there are some extra coughs and colds going around.

We have moved on to chapter three and the study of cell processes. The key concepts here will include diffusion and osmosis as well as a brief look at photosynthesis and respiration.

Experiments will be running all week and into next as we explore these incredible, complex cellular events.

geography map quizzes

STUDY NOTES FOR COUNTRY IDENTIFICATION QUIZZES

Be sure to use the UNIT Regional Atlas and not the maps in the reference atlas at the front of the book. The unit maps give you the exact countries you need to know for each quiz.

Listed below are some online resources that could make the studying easier and more fun. I have checked each of the sites in the past week to see that they are working. Please note, there is the potential that some less than appropriate pop-up ads may appear in connection with these sites. Also note, there are many other games available that may or may not be educational. Always be sure to have parental permission before going online.

Remember to use the book in connection with the online resources. None of the online sources cover the exact countries that will be on one particular quiz.

www.urgames.com/games/geography           scroll to the bottom of the page - map quizzes are under the trivia section

www.maps.com/games              find "geography quiz" and pick the category needed

You may be able to find some other games by doing a search for online map quizzes.
